I bought my laptop about 3 months ago now, and up until about 3/4 days ago it was working perfectly fine. There should be a file there called Hosts.
Also, you might try and isolate this by removing the router from the mix and going in directly to your modem/DSL. I can access yahoo.com from numerous other pc's on the network so I don't believe it to be the router. No change.
