I thought I would just buy a memory card reader for the laptop, since I couldn't connect the camera, but I could not get the memory card reader to install. For some reason not all the folders were set to show hidden files and it seems that the Gericom drive (Seagate) works above the lowest system level and doesn't kick-in unless Windows Usb Troubleshooter I copied this into my inf folder and all my devices now work.
